User Guide for Updating Phone Numbers in Accounts

This guide provides instructions on updating phone numbers in accounts, specifically when at least one of the contacts in the account has a mailing preference of "Account Mailing." It is crucial to follow these steps to prevent discrepancies between account and contact addresses.
The phone number in an account is directly associated with the Account mailing/permanent address. Updating the phone number will trigger contact address syncing if the contact mailing preference is "Account Mailing. Records where the account and contact addresses differ will be impacted by this process.
Verify Addresses Before Updating the Phone Number
Before updating the phone number in an account, check if the account and contact addresses are the same.
If the addresses are different, correct the address first.
In household accounts, the contact’s address is typically the most up-to-date. Investigate to confirm if the contact’s address was most recently updated.
If so, ensure the account address is synced with the contact’s address before updating the phone number.
The Contact fields encircled below will trigger the contact address to sync with the Account address. You should update only the Mailing Address Note to trigger the sync.
Verify that there are no discrepancies between the account and contact addresses.
If discrepancies arise after updating the phone number, manually review and correct the addresses in the account and contact records as needed.
